Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are anchored in a generally small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, contains 150 slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous luxuries aside from the casino, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
