Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an appealing background to the Cambodia casinos that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which casino betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are apparently needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is real of many borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked bateau gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that contains many conveniences aside from the gambling hall, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
