Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are means around this, as is real of most borders.

The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, contains 150 slots and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel compound that contains a number of conveniences in addition to the casino, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and eighty eight table games.
